New Legislative Regulations for Residence Permit Issuance in Greece-56/7 Amendment: Strengthening the Workforce and Ensuring Public Order
The Ministry of Labour and Social Security recently introduced amendment 56/7, bringing significant changes to the legislation regarding residence permit issuance in Greece. The objective of the new regulation is to strengthen the workforce and ensure public order and safety.
Key Points of the New Regulation:
- Linking Residence Permit to Job Offer: The new regulation establishes strict conditions for residence permit issuance, directly linking it to a job offer. The permit will only be granted to individuals with a job offer and will be revoked in case of employment termination.
- Enhancement of Public Safety: The regulation imposes increased penalties for employers and migrant workers who violate deployment terms. The aim is to enhance public safety.
- Protection of Legal Immigration: By connecting residence permits to employment, the regulation protects legal immigration, providing only necessary rights to non-legal residents.
- Transparent Permit Issuance Process: The new legislative provision sets clear guidelines for residence permit issuance, creating a transparent and effective system.
Requirements for Residence Permit Issuance:
- Job Offer Declaration: Submission of a job offer declaration by the employer in Greece.
- Residence Until 30/11/2023 Without Stay Permit: Residence in Greece until November 30, 2023, without a stay permit.
- Continuous Residence in Greece: Obligation to continue residence in Greece throughout the successful process.
- Three Consecutive Years of Residence: Residing in Greece for at least three consecutive years before submitting the application, confirmed by certified chronological documents.
- Possession of Passport: Possession of a valid passport, even in the case of expiration.
- Non-Disqualification Due to Public Order and Safety: Absence of disqualifications due to public order and safety reasons.
- Fee and Permit Printing Cost: Payment of a fee of 300 euros and a printing cost of 16 euros for the residence permit.
- Submission of Employer’s Declaration: Submission of an employer’s responsible declaration through the Unified Digital Portal of Public Administration.
The new regulations aim to create a transparent, fair, and effective system for residence permit issuance. They promote legal employment while ensuring stable residence in the country. This legislation responds to broader efforts to address illegal immigration and enhance economic and social cohesion in the country.
